Controlling Navigation Buttons without the use of a Mouse

     05-21-2008, 6:05 AM

Can a learner who has launched a course use keyboard controls usch as the Tab key, Enter Key, etc...

Is there a way for the developer to assign key board controls such as Ctrl + E for exit or Ctrl+M for menu?

Not currently - however, once we complete our Section 508 compliance, keyboard controls will be a part of that.  We will be finishing our Section 508 compliance in the next 2 months.

There is currently no way to assign keyboard controls to the menu. However, this is something we may consider as part of our Section 508 compliance (it sounds like a good idea).

With all of the upgrades, such as this 508 compliance, will the pricing change?

It hasn't.  We are devoting much of our time to UdutuTeach & Learn at the moment - primarily laying the groundwork for making it available for other social networks than Facebook.  The remainder is being spent on preparing myUdutu for internationalization (making it available in other languages than English).  Once that is done (1st week of September), we will likely be working on some custom features for myUdutu that will allow authors to create custom templates.  Once THAT is done, we'll be finishing Section 508.  It's taken us quite a while to get to it, but a number of other things have come up (including the development and release of a new product) and people haven't really been clamouring for it until recently.

We'll get it done before much longer, though.  It's a priority, and we reallize that for many of our users myUdutu won't be an option without Section 508 compliance before long.

Is it possible to create buttons that will move forward and backwords within the programs, such as hyperlinks?

Yes - from within any Rich Text element, you can create links to any screen in your course.  You may also use the 'Jump to Screen' templates to the same effect.
