What file types (video, audio) are permitted for upload?  I want to upload a short movie and I've tried wmv format, mswmm format, and get the message Invalid file extension for this type of content.

Are special codecs required?  Is there someplace on the udutu site that lists this?

    thanks.

    Hi Piano Lady!

You can upload an .avi, .mov, Mpeg, wmv,or an .Flv format Whatever one it is  gets converted to an FLVonce it has been uploaded. Movies bigger than 100Mb might hit a timeout error if the server is busy. The invalid file extension error would certainly be true for the MSWMM format (What IS that?), but unless the movie is corrupted your wmv should have worked.

If I recall correctly, MSWMM files are Windows Movie Maker files. If so, you wouldn't want to be uploading those anyway, unless they were intended on being downloadable resources...?

It's a long time since I've use WMM, but I'm sure that it gives options to export as either AVI or WMV, so just make sure it's AVI and you should be ok.WMV is windows own proprietary video format, so it makes sense that Udutu prevents you from using those (since you'd be excluding some non-windows users).

If not, look for a means of converting WMV to AVI (you can google it, but bear in mind that free and good movie converters are few and far between - check to see if you or your organisation has software that can do it for you first!).

    Hope that helps!

    Getting error, "incorrect format"?
I am trying to add, a .wav audio sound to my presentation.  I made the file in windows recorder.  Per Udutu notes the .wav file will be converted to MP3.  When I upload, there is a count down, and under it, says  -0- processed.  What is it I need to do?  Or give me a link to instructions, thank you.

Do you mind if we go into your account and look at the particular MP3 file and the course it is in? Clearly there is something unusual about it.  You only appear to have two MP3 recordings in your library, and they both work perfectly. The problem file must be in a format that isn't recognized. Could it be you have accidentally named it incorrectly, (for example sometimes the suffix gets added twice when you are saving a file from Windows Recorder.)
