    Hello~

I have a couple of questions regarding using images on Udutu.

     1) Where do people get the images they use?  Is it ok to just do a Google image search or do you run the risk of committing copyright infringement?

     2) How do you ensure that the images you are using don't become "fuzzy" and blurry when you upload them into Udutu?

    Thank you,

    Serenity

    Regarding your image questions:

    1.  Try using www.creativecommons.org/#  to search for your images.  They will find images that are licensed under Creative Commons, meaning in most instances they are free as long as you credit the author or other items, which they tell you up front.

    2.   In order to keep images from being fuzzy, when you decide what page template you are going to use, roll your cursor over the Media window.  You should get a tool tip that tells you the max dimensions for the media.  Keep in mind you can resample down and the image will maintain clarity.  If you try to enlarge an image, you will begin to get artifacting and the image will be come fuzzy looking.

Hope this helps.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact me:  craig.jackson@rcu.msstate.edu

    Hi Serenity,

You can also purchase very inexpensive images on almost any subject from websites such as www.istockphoto.com and download free proofs etc. Just type your keywords into the search space.

If you use the JPEG format they will automatically scale and anti-alias for you when you upload them into Udutu no matter what the original dimensions or resolution, so its always better to load an image that is too big rather than one that is too small if you want to optimize clarity.

If you want a transparent image you'll have to use the PNG format, which is always a bigger filesize and takes longer to load, so use them sparingly.
