    Viewing Resources

     07-01-2008, 5:09 PM

Hi, I LOVE this tool! I just started "using" it a few days ago and I'm really impressed with how easy it is to work with... thank you!!! My issue that I would like help with is this... I have attached a pdf file as a resource page in my New Products course. When previewing this course while in Author Mode, (after going to any screen except for the first one), I am able to click on the Resource tab and it opens up the file. After I extract it I cannot open this file. Obviously I am doing something wrong... can you tell me what it is? Also, why can I not view the Resource file from the first screen?

    Thanks!

That's great!  We're glad you like it :)

Which browser are you using?  We have a known issue with Firefox and that particular template - but there is really nothing that can be done about it.  Firefox does not support embedding pdf files directly on the page.  A solution that works for both browsers is to use one of the rich text templates.  On these templates, you can embed a link in the text to pdf files or other types of documents.  The document will then open in a new page.

I can't reproduce your other issue - I can access the resources from the first page.  Knowing your browser/version and OS would help.

The problem may be with the fact that I'm using a Mac OS 10.4.11.... and, yes, Firefox is the main browser that I use. But I also have tried it on Netscape and Safari with the same problem on the Mac. So, I got out the PC laptop and find that it works well with IE on the PC. And I can also get to the resources page from the first page as well, so I guess that one "fixed itself?". I tried the embedded link solution that you recommended for giggles to see if that worked. EUREKA!  That's the ticket! I'll do that trick from now on. THANKS!!!

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. It's nice to know you are there!
