    Customizing Themes

     03-10-2009, 11:38 PM
Hi,  I am trying to upload a Navigation Background image and a Body background image.  My problem is that I press "choose file" and select the file I want then if i press save it removes the file and if I dont press save nothing happens.  I realise this is more than likely a user error but any advice would be appreciated.  Thanks.

If you click save, the file should be uploaded to the server automatically.  It only removes the text from the file box on that screen - the file should be transferred over.

Are your files not being transferred when you click 'Save'?

I am having some issues with customizing themes as well.  I can upload the logo and save and it works.  But when I go to Theme Builder, Optional Advanced, I run into some issues.  I convert my files to GIF first, then try to upload them.  I have been able to get the Nav Bar gif to save, but not sure about the info bar gif.  And with the Content body gif, sometimes it shows up, sometimes it does not.  I have tried at 800x600 and 640x480.

Am I doing something inccorectly?  Maybe my browser is messed up?  I use the latest version of Firefox (3.0.7)

     Thanks

There could be a caching issue.  If so, it should go away within a few minutes - certainly within 24 hours (but almost always within 3-4 minutes).  The folders containing those issues may cache when previewing (and thereby showing you old information in preview mode only) - depending on your browser settings or downstream ISP server cache settings.  Ordinarily, clearing your cache or forcing a refresh will correct that.  Published courses (publish preview, or publish live) will always reflect what the true settings are.

The ultimate test will be to publish (or 'extract') your course (from the 'distribute' button on the course).  If it is still not showing what you are expecting, please let me know at knoesgaard@udutu.com and I'll look into it right away.

Also, some themes will let you set background images, and some won't.  We need to better document which will and which won't.  What is the base theme you are talking about, here?  If you let me know which course/theme in your account you are struggling with, I can go in and take a look.

Thanks for the response.  I have clicked "save" and there are no changes.  Not sure where I am going wrong.

I can't reproduce your error.  What browser are you using?  Also, could you please email the image you are trying to upload to knoesgaard@udutu.com?
