About Jim Ong

I began my career as a Training and Education Specialist in the United States Air Force (USAF) in 1979. I have managed training programs in security police, aircraft maintenance, and medical organizations in the United States and abroad. Countries that I have lived in are Germany, Spain, and South Korea. I have lived in California, New Mexico, South Carolina, Texas, Mississippi, and now I live in Louisiana. After retiring from the USAF in 1999, I joined Lockheed Martin Space Operations as the Training Manager responsible for the management, development and implementation of company safety and technical training programs for 500+ employees assigned to work at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) principal rocket propulsion testing center, Stennis Space Center’s in Mississippi. In Sept 2004, I joined Hibernia Bank (Now Capital One) in New Orleans working at The Hibernia Center for Learning as an Assistant Vice President, Instructional Systems Designer and was responsible for the developing eLearning and instructor led training programs for Personal Banker’s and Bank Tellers. In August 2005 after Hurricane Katrina and Rita divested the downtown New Orleans Business District, I joined Computer Sciences Corporation as the Training Supervisor for the NASA Shared Services Center (NSSC), Service Provider (SP) Training Department. In this position I am directly responsible for the managing and supervising the training department staff which is responsible for training new hires performing activities into a new operational environment for the NSSC. We also develop learning modules that are delivered thru our learning management system. I earned my bachelor's degree in Occupational Education, Corporate Training and Development from Wayland Baptist University and enrolled in the masters program to prepare myself for a career change. I would like to teach at the local high school and eventually move into school administration.. I am currently five credits away from graduation June 2008. I have also received a certification from The School of Engineering &Technology from the University of Southern Mississippi as a Certified Training Professional.
